TOTS SANTS

Aquí el día de Tots Sants és el dilluns que ve, 06/04. I perdoneu que sigui macabre, però la ironia serveix per donar-li un toc d'humor al tema... El que veieu a la foto m'ha fet pensar que, ves perquè anem a netejar la làpida als difunts quan està força clar que no la faran servir... Aquí han fet un pas endavant, tot i que d'espiritual en té ben poc. A Xina, aquells que tenen clar que hi ha una altra vida tenen, més clar encara, que és millor, i com que sovint la qualitat es fa pagar, el millor que es pot fer és enviar diners... Per això han inventat aquests bitllets falsos que el dia de Tots Sants cremen, juntament amb altres coses de paper que els volen fer arribar. Qui ho havia de dir que al final els bitllets del monopoli si que tindrien valor... Però la cosa no acaba aquí. Tot això va acompanyat de la pertinent pregària i focs d'artifici (perquè es despertin, ja que es veu que a l'altra vida es dorm molt...) perquè des de les comoditats pagades del més enllà, els difunts preguin i vetllin pels que encara són vius...

Bromes a part, he trobat que era una d'aquelles curiositats culturals que valia la pena comentar, i al cap i a la fi, és una manera menys trista i més simpàtica d'adreçar el tema de la mort, no?

ALL SAINT'S DAY

Here the All Saint's Day is next monday 06/04. And, forgive me if I am a bit macabre, but irony brings out the humorous part of the topic... What you see in the picture made me think that, why should we go and clean the tombstones when it is pretty clear they won't use it anymore? here in China they went one step forward, even if it is not really a spiritual one. Here, those who do believe in another live, they believe even more that it's better than this one. And, since quality life is usually expensive, the best thing they can do is to send money. Therefore they invented this fake bills that they burn during the All Saint's Day along with other paper things they want to send away. Who would have thought that in the end, thos monopoly bills would have so much value... But the story doesn't end here. The whole ceremony has also some prayers and fireworks (to wake the dead up, since apparently you sleep alot up there) so the dead pray and take care of those who still live...

Now seriously, I thought this was one of those interesting cultural things worth a comment, and I have to say, it is a less sad and nicer way to interpret death, isn't it?
