EXPERIENCING CHINA!: Liu Xiaobo – Premi Nobel de la Pau 2010 / Liu Xiaobo

Com era d’esperar i tots segurament sabeu, el fet que l’acadèmia noruega hagi atorgat el Nobel de la Pau 2010 a Liu Xiaobo ha aixecat una gran polèmica al gegant asiàtic. Tot i que tinc una opinió molt clara al respecte, però conscient que és un tema molt delicat al país on visc i que tot i que accedeixo al bloc mitjançant un servidor estranger, podria estar tranquil·lament monitoritzat, crec que el més important és que us doni a conèixer, més que la meva opinió, una radiografia del que es pot llegir i saber a Xina sobre el tema.

D’entrada he de dir que he intentat treure el tema amb amics i coneguts autòctons, però el cert és que molta gent, almenys de meu entorn, està poc al corrent de tot plegat i fins i tot no sap qui és Liu Xiaobo.

Per tal que tingueu una visió de com s’explica a la Xina, us he fet una selecció d’articles d’alguns dels diaris més importants del país que també es redacten en anglès. Malauradament, ara mateix no disposo del temps suficient per traduir els articles al català. Espero poder-ho fer ben aviat.

Juntament amb tots aquests articles adjunto una carta escrita per ex – oficials del partit del govern (retirada d'internet però que va arribar a "The Guardian") que estan a favor de l’alliberació de Liu i de la llibertat d’expressió i premsa. Adjunto el link, precisament per poder fer la comparació i que pogueu treure´n conclusions. A la Xina, amb 1300 milions d'habitants, evidentment hi ha gent a favor del Premi Nobel, però el diaris locals no en deixen constància…

As expected and you probably all know, the fact that the noweigen academy awarded Liu Xiaobo has risen a huge polemic in China.

Although I have a clear opinion about it, but aware that it is a sensitive issue in the country I live in, and knowing that although I write my blog from a foreign server it could easily be monitored, I believe that more than giving you my opinion, it is more important to let you know what can be read about it in China.

To start with I should say I’ve tried to talk about it with local friends or people I know, but the truth is many people, at least from my circle, are not much aware about what’s going on or don’t even know who Liu Xiaobo is.

In ordera for you to have a vision on how it is explained in China, I’ve selected some articles from some of the most important publications (which are also published in English).

Along with all these articles I attach the link to a letter written by ex-officials of the government’s party (erased from the net but published in “The Guardian”) who are in favor of Liu’s liberation and freedom of speech. I attach this link precisely to let you compare and take your own conclusions. In China, with 1300bilion people, there is obviously people in favor of the new peace Nobel Price, but the local newspapers don’t mention it…
